Out-waiting Hurricane Norbert

It’s about time we publish an update: it’s October 11 already, and hurricane Norbert makes us stop and wait, which gives us time for this update.
Mexico has been interesting so far: First, within 5 minutes of entering the country, I tore off a low-hanging coax cable with the nearly 10-foot high camper. Second, we couldn’t get a vehicle permit, because the office has been closed permanently (we are told we can get it later).
Third, we had a beautiful beach campground all to ourselves for the first night. Fourth, we drove way too long to get to Puerto Peñasco, where we are now in a perfect spot to out-wait the hurricane.
So everything is fine, really. Travels and campgrounds have been safe, and people always have been friendly and eager to help. Which is good, because this is quite a new experience for us. That’s it, we’re now watching the hurricane's progress on the internet.

Hurrikan abwarten und Bier drinken...

Jetzt wird’s aber Zeit, daß wir uns wieder melden. Es ist schon der 11te, und der Hurrikan Norbert zwingt uns zum anhalten. Naja, immerhin haben wir jetzt Zeit, unseren blog zu bearbeiten.
Mexiko ist interesant: Erstens hab ich gleich mal ein niedriges Coax-Kabel mit dem fast 3-meter hohen Camper abgerissen. Zweitens konnten wir für das Fahrzeug die erforderliche Erlaubnis noch nicht erhalten, können sie aber angeblich später einholen. Drittens hatten wir für die erste Nacht einen ganzen Campingplatz am Strand für uns allein. Viertens führen wir viel zu weit um hier in Puerto Peñasco anzukommen, wo wir Internet haben und aus sicherer Entfernung den Hurrikan abwarten können.
Alles ist also bestens. Die Campingplätze und die Straßen sind sicher, und die Leute sind freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Das ist prima, denn hier ist wirklich alles neu für uns. Das war’s für heute, jetzt schauen wir mal dem Hurrikan am Internet zu.

Pendientes del Paso de Norbert

Es hora de darles noticias: Ya es 11 de octubre y el huracán Norbert nos ha detenido, lo que es bueno porque así podemos escribir.
México ha sido muy interesante: Primero, en el curso de los primeros cinco minutos de atravesar la frontera cortamos un cable de computadora que estaba colgando a la entrada de un parqueadero con el techo del camper. Segundo, no pudimos hacer el permiso de entrada del carro porque la oficina en Tecate ha sido cerrada (nos dicen que esta es zona libre y lo podemos hacer después). Tercero, pasamos la primera noche a la orilla de la playa en un campamento privado donde no había nadie mas que nosotros. Cuarto, manejamos muchos kilómetros (cerca de 550) para llegar Puerto Peñasco (en la costa de Mar de Cortés) donde estamos ahora, un sitio perfecto para esperar el paso del huracán.
Todo ha ido bien. El viaje y los sitios de acampar han sido seguros y la gente siempre muy amigable y lista a ayudarnos. Lo cual es bueno, porque esta es una muy nueva experiencia para nosotros. Eso es todo, estamos observando al huracán por Internet.
