Arid Land

On we roll southward through Peru's coastal desert. Fact is, the entire coast of Peru, all of its 1,500 miles is a desert. This continues for about another 1,000 miles into Chile.
Straddling the border between the two countries is the Atacama Desert, reportedly the driest on earth, even though severe flash flooding occurred during the last two years.
This post covers our travels from December 15 to 20 from Nazca to Arequipa in Peru, which is located at the northern edge of the Atacama Desert.

Vertrocknete Erde

Und weiter geht's südwärts durch die Wüstenlandschaft in Peru. Tatsächlich erstreckt sich die Wüste entlang der gesamten Küstenlinie Peru's, 2.400 km insgesamt. Das geht dann noch etwa 1.600 km nach Chile hinein.
Die Atacama Wüste sitzt auf der Grenze zwischen Peru und Chile. Sie ist die Trockenste der Erde, trotz starker Überschwemmungen in den letzten zwei Jahren.
Dieser Beitrag zeigt Fotos unsere Reise vom 15. bis 20. Dezember von Nazca nach Arequipa in Peru, das am Nordrand der Atacama Wüste liegt.

Tierra Árida

Seguimos nuestro recorrido hacia el sur a través del desierto costero de Perú. De hecho, toda la costa del Perú, la totalidad de sus 2.400 kilómetros, es desierto. Extendiéndose aproximadamente por otros 1.600 km dentro de Chile.
En la frontera entre los dos países está el Desierto de Atacama, el más seco en el planeta según reportes; a pesar de las severas inundaciones de los últimos dos años.
Esta publicación cubre el recorrido del 15 al 20 de diciembre desde Nazca hasta Arequipa en Perú, en el extremo norte del Desierto de Atacama.
