Family, Friends, and Neighbors

This post is dedicated to our good friend Don “Pesz” Pesznecker who died a few weeks ago. We remember Pesz for his indomitable spirit and infectious good mood. Pesz brought F5B flying competition to Oregon, and one of my favorite memories is participating in the F5B US team trials with him 10 years ago. Two pilots who participated in the 2006 F5B Contest in Oregon are now gone; Jack also has passed away.
Don’s and Jack’s passing and our recent continent-hopping trip reminded us just how important it is to have loving families, good friends, and friendly neighbors. Our families in Bogotá and Uffenheim always welcome us back and are kind enough to stock up on the goodies they know we like.
Our friends in Oregon and California all received us happily and took time out of their lives to visit with us. They were unbelievably generous putting us up (and putting up with us) and providing transportation and lodging for us. You guys know who you are, thank you! We are grateful beyond words…
Barely back in Girardota, we stumbled upon a party celebrating one elder’s birthday. Almost the whole neighborhood was there, it was really touching to see their genuine smiles and warm welcome in their eyes.
Attached are photographs from our recent trip and from the places we have called and are calling home.
Friends for almost half a century.
Freunde seit fast einem halben Jahrhundert.
Amigos por casi medio siglo.

Prost! Cheers! ¡Salud!
