From Uffenheim

Our time in Germany is almost over, and it’s time to update the blog again. A few readers asked us to post some photos of Uffenheim, the town where I was born and raised.
Uffenheim is a small town located in northern Bavaria about halfway between Würzburg and Ansbach. It’s remained kind of a back-water area, where the internet and even phone-answering machines are not yet common-place.
We are now preparing to return to Coljavascript:void(0)ombia. We are told that our place by the Andean slope-flying site is just about ready for us, so we’re looking forward to getting started.

Aus Uffenheim

Unser Deutschlandbesuch ist fast vorbei, und wir machen noch schnell einen Blog-Eintrag. Ein paar Leser haben uns gebeten, Fotos von Uffenheim zu zeigen.
Uffenheim ist eine Kleinstadt in Nordbayern halbwegs zwischen Würzburg und Ansbach gelegen. Es ist eine Art Kehrwasser geblieben wo Internet und sogar Anrufbeantworter noch gar nicht so häufig sind.
Wir bereiten uns jetzt auf unsere Rückkehr nach Kolumbien vor. Unser Haus am Andenhang ist angeblich fast einzugsfertig, und wir freuen uns endlich mit unseren Vorhaben anfangen zu können.

Desde Uffenheim

Nuestra estadía en Alemania esta llegando a su final y es tiempo de dar algunas noticias. Algunos de nuestros seguidores nos pidieron fotos de Uffenheim, el pueblo donde Dieter nació y creció.
Uffenheim es un pueblo pequeño localizado en el norte de Bavaria a mitad de camino entre Würzburg y Ansbach. Se ha mantenido un poco callado, el Internet e inclusive las contestadoras automáticas no son tan comunes todavía.
Nos estamos preparando para el regreso a Colombia. Nos han avisado que nuestra casa en los Andes cerca de la ladera de vuelo esta casi lista; por lo tanto, esperamos con ansia el inicio de labores.

Update from Germany

With the bureaucratic distractions behind us, we have been able to get started on what we came here to do: find a house, ideally with its own slope flying site, where we can live, fly, work, and welcome guests to stay with us.
And guess what: We have found the “AeroFinca” by the slope! It even has a large meadow to land in and to fly electric-powered planes from.
It is not yet ready for us to move in, and while we’re waiting, we’ve decided to return to Germany for our annual visit. We originally had planned to take this trip in June/July, however it makes sense to do it now. So, life continues to happen while we make other plans, but this is a good development, and we are fortunate to have the flexibility to adapt to life’s changes.
Thus, this blog update comes from Uffenheim, where we’re visiting my parents, as we do every year. We came from “the City of Eternal Spring” to the old home town, where spring is just arriving.

Eintrag aus Deutschland

Mit den bürokratischen Hürden im Rückspiegel haben wir etwas mehr Zeit uns auf den Hauptgrund unseres Kommens zu konzentrieren: ein Haus zu finden, am besten mit Haushang, wo wir wohnen, fliegen, und arbeiten können, und wo’s Platz hat um Gäste zu empfangen.
Und da schau her, haben wir doch tatsächlich eine Andenalm samt Hang gefunden! Wir werden sie “AeroFinca” nennen. Da gibts auch eine Wiese zum Landen und zum Fliegen von Elektro-Modellen.
Die Finca ist aber noch nicht einzugsfertig, und daher haben wir beschlossen unseren alljährlichen Besuch in Deutschland jetzt abzustatten. Ursprünglich war der für Juni/Juli geplant, aber es gibt Sinn ihn vorzulegen. Das Leben geht also weiter während man sein Pläne schmiedet, und wir sind froh, daß wir beweglich genug sind, uns den Änderungen des Lebens entsprechend anzupassen.
Das heißt wir sind jetzt wieder in Uffenheim, wo wir wie jedes Jahr meine Eltern besuchen. Wir sind also von der “Stadt des Ewigen Frühlings” in das alte Heimatstädtchen gereist wo der Frühling grade eintrifft.

Noticias desde Alemania

Después de dejar atrás las distracciones burocráticas, hemos podido dedicarnos a hacer lo que vivimos a hacer: encontrar casa, preferiblemente con su propia ladera de vuelo, donde podamos vivir, volar, trabajar y darle la bienvenida a nuestros huéspedes.
¿Adivinen que? Hemos encontrado la “AeroFinca,” y ¡al lado de la ladera! Tiene un campo ideal para aterrizar y volar aeroplanos eléctricos. Como todavía no podemos pasarnos a la casa hemos decidido hacer nuestra visita anual a Alemania. Inicialmente pensábamos ir en junio pero tiene mas sentido hacerlo ahora. Como dicen, “la vida continua mientras uno hace planes” y nosotros somos afortunados al tener la flexibilidad de adaptarnos a los cambios de la vida.
Asi de que nos encontramos en Uffenheim, visitando a la familia de Dieter. Vivimos de Medellín, la Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera, al pueblo natal de Dieter, Uffenheim, donde la primavera esta llegando.
